Mission & Vision

Our Mission

To help Ugandan women and girls achieve their ambitions by providing empowering opportunities all grounded in the practice of Transcendental Meditation.

Our Vision

Design solutions by collaborating with partners that measurably impact thousands of women in Uganda each year.

Sustainable Development Goals

Women and girls are at the front and center of everything we do. Our focus is to support them in overcoming poverty, achieving social justice, and living with dignity. We recognize that individual well-being is inseparable from collective welfare, which is why we work to create lasting, community-driven change.

SDG 3: Good Health & Well-being

Mental wellness is a fundamental pillar of empowerment. Through Transcendental Meditation (TM) and wellness programs, we provide women with the tools to manage stress, build resilience, and navigate economic and social challenges. By prioritizing emotional well-being, we help women and girls unlock their full potential.

SDG 5: Gender Equality

AWAGO tackles systemic barriers and gender inequalities by strengthening the agency of women and girls and engaging men and boys as allies in the fight for gender equity. We focus on
the most marginalized women and girls, including:

  • Those in rural communities and urban slums
  • Refugee women and girls
  • Women and girls with disabilities
  • Young and older women
  • Indigenous women and girls

We apply a women-centered empowerment framework that directly addresses barriers, risks, and inequalities by ensuring that all women—regardless of background—have the opportunity to thrive.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Real change happens through collaboration and collective action. AWAGO partners with local organizations, governments, social movements, and the private sector to:

  • Strengthen women’s voices and leadership
  • Expand access to mental wellness and economic resources
  • Ensure programs are locally owned and sustainable

Through SDG 17, We Advance:

SDG 4: Quality Education

We don’t deliver education directly, but we work with partners to integrate gender, mental wellness, and leadership development into existing educational platforms.

SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth

By leveraging partnerships, AWAGO helps women access economic opportunities, including vocational training, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial support.
By putting women and girls first, strengthening their resilience, and fostering strategic partnerships, AWAGO is driving real, lasting change—ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to lead, thrive, and transform her community.
